Today is an exciting day in the Ettika office.. another installment of our Spring 2013 was launched today and we couldn’t be more proud! The Great Cake Pop Adventure!

As we started planning our 7th birthday, one of our staff members offered to make something special for the big day. Here is Alex’s take on her baking experience!

Working in the creative department at Ettika, planning their 7th birthday was very exciting. We wanted to celebrate in style but still stay true to our homemade roots. Therefore, I offered to make some sort of dessert and, per usual, went a little crazy at the thought of trying a new baking project…

Only until recently have I jumped onto the cake pop trend. I always passed when I saw them in bakery windows. There was always a chocolate croissant or an everything bagel that seemed more appealing. Last weekend, however, I was on line at Starbucks and finally went for it. Along with my Venti Dark Roast with Soy Milk, I purchased a pink cake pop. I can now divide my life into two, but equally important, parts… Before I experienced the pink Starbucks cake pop…. and after. So then, as we began to plan our menu for today’s festivities, I opted to make the cake pops and my other favorite, chocolate covered strawberries. How hard can it be, right? I dragged along one of my colleagues Mischa, to help me out with the baking. She had a friends tasty vegan recipe using Greek yogurt in lieu of oil, butter and egg yolk. As we started the process, we quickly realized that we might have under estimated the amount of work these pops required. The pan we purchased from Target only baked 12 pops at a time which pushed our baking into the wee hours of the night, the cakes kept sliding down the stick due to the heaviness of the frosting and the make shift holder we made to keep the pops up was, to say the least, flawed. All in all though, Mischa and I had a blast! We delightfully enjoyed eating the misshapen cakes and we laughed as frosting and sprinkles covered the kitchen.

Baking for Ettika’s 7th birthday was a labor of love and was so happy to watch as my co-workers enjoyed every bite! I look forward to our next event when I can explore a new culinary adventure!

How did Ettika enjoy their 7th birthday party? What do you think…

Working in a creative environment allows us to be free with our ideas and inspirations but working with friends allows us to have fun while we do it! Yesterday’s party was our time to relax, enjoy each others company and take pride in Ettika’s accomplishments over the past year. We ate over sized pizza from Big Mommas & Poppas, played dress up with Ettika jewelry, indulged in many kinds of desserts and even hit a cupcake pinata! So far this spring we have been quite the busy bees.. from launching a huge spring line, growing out our office staff, building another showroom downtown and celebrating our 7th year anniversary. We definitely have a lot to be thankful for and we are going into this next year with nothing but positivity and love!

Macaroons + Wrist Candy

There’s two things that we know for sure.. Women love jewelry and women love macaroons. Something about pairing them together just sounds like pure bliss to us so we decided to head over to Bottega Louis for an afternoon treat. We went with our favorite flavors, Rose and Earl Grey. What are we in love with more? The taste or the brightly colored pastels… we’re not sure!
