The Choker Trend: How To Pull It Off
After its insane popularity in the 80's and 90's, the choker trend has made a huge comeback, and to be honest, we are completely obsessed with this trend! Besides being versatile, chokers effortlessly combine vintage and modern elements and can be either a subtle accessory or a statement necklace. If you always loved chokers but were never sure how to pull them off, keep on reading!
Why do we love this trend?
Since 2016, we've seen chokers being featured in major runway collections (such as Tom Ford and Moschino) and worn by stunning street style bloggers, such as Leandra Medine from The Man Repeller and Chiara Ferragni from the The Blonde Salad . The reason behind its popularity is quite simple: the choker style has endless versions and it basically looks good with anything. There are no rules when it comes to chokers: you can mix a simple black one with an oversized T-shirt and ripped jeans combination or a gorgeous, embellished floral one with a formal all-white look.
Ettika Choker Favorites:
There is something so unique about this choker! The multiple layered design and the gold moon detailing create a very luxurious, yet boho chic vibe. You can either wear this beautiful choker with a casual outfit (such as a white, oversized T-shirt or crop top, ripped jeans and a kimono), or with something more fancy, such as a red midi dress.
This beautiful crochet daisy and tan bow choker is the perfect boho accessory for a festival or a summer night party. Besides the white and tan materials, there is also a hint of gold in the details of the choker, which makes it even more special.
This is an absolute must-have piece for the upcoming summer season! With the soft rainbow cotton fabric and the multiple chain and gold coin style, this choker is definitely a one of a kind piece that will look stunning with monochrome or neutral outfits. Perfect for Pride, any festival or party.
The little fringe detailing with the navy crochet prints makes this “tribal skirt” choker a great summer accessory! Besides any other fringy or boho chic outfit, it can also be mixed with more modern outfits, such as a cape blazer or a black maxi dress.
When choosing the perfect choker... .
..make sure you are truly in love with the style. Don’t just buy it because it’s a popular trend - search a bit more and experiment with different styles until you find the one that represents your personal and matches your wardrobe.
...don’t stick with a simple black one. Why not expand your choker collection with something very unique, such as a layered, gold choker with crystal detailing or a statement lace choker with a bow?

…make sure it’s not too big or too small. Both loose and tight chokers are uncomfortable, so choose one that has a clasp with multiple options at the back (so you can easily vary the size).
Our Favorite Choker Outfits
Leather & Lace
We love the combination of the sturdy leather and the soft and feminine lace material, especially that they are both black! Rock it with a beautiful satin top and ripped, blue jeans!
Besides the regular black satin or velvet choker, why not play with layering and add more? This look features a beautiful golden drop neckalce with a crystal and gold choker and a lace bralette, and we are absolutely in love.
Off Shoulder Tops
Off shoulder tops are great for accentuating a choker, and because your neck area is completely uncovered, you can experiment with bolder pieces as well, such as a glitter choker or a wide crystal piece.
Channel your inner hippe with a cotton or denim wrap choker, oversized denim jacket and a lace top!
